Javier Zanetti was moved by his standing ovation on matching Beppe Bergomi's record. “I am part of the big Inter family.”
The captain celebrated his 519th Serie A appearance for the club in the 4-1 victory over Bologna.
“I thank everyone for the standing ovation and this evening could not have gone better,” he smiled.
“The fans have always been marvellous towards me. I am part of the big Inter family. When I arrived here in 1995, I was an unknown, the Moratti family opened their arms and we grew up together.
“I want to end my career at Inter. We have won so much and I want to continue doing it.”
Inter have two games in hand due to their Club World Cup commitments, starting on Wednesday against Cesena.
“Can we win the Scudetto? Everything is possible. We had many injury problems before, but are now back in the race and will certainly give it our best.”
