Palermo striker Massimo Maccarone is close to joining Bologna, according to Tuttosport.
The 31-year-old was told he had been officially put up for sale just six months after moving to Sicily.
"I would have liked to have respect my contract with Palermo, but the club has informed me of their intention to sell," Maccarone said.
"Obviously I don't like the situation that has been created because there are no problems at Palermo with the Coach nor with my teammates.
"As long as I have the opportunity to stay here, I will work with the same commitment as always.
"It takes two people to make a marriage in football. Often it's not your fault if it gets interrupted.
"Being a nice guy in football counts for little, but I am used to these situations.
"There are many clubs that want me, clubs that have shown confidence in me and I will make a definitive decision shortly."
Tuttosport understands Bologna have come forward with an offer.
Alberto Malesani is said to be very keen to partner Maccarone with Marco Di Vaio.
