Reports in Italy suggest Inter are 'very close' to signing Sampdoria striker Giampaolo Pazzini.
Earlier this week, Inter's chief technical director Marco Branca revealed that he is looking to reinforce the club's injury plagued forward line.
Inter President Massimo Moratti then told journalists that inquiries would be made about Pazzini as well as Cagliari striker Alessandro Matri.
La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that an offer worth €12m has been made for the 26-year-old Italy international who has scored six goals in Serie A this season.
However, Sampdoria are said to be holding out for a figure closer to €15m, although Riccardo Garrone is open to negotiation.
It's thought that Inter will reflect before making another bid, but a player is likely to be included in exchange and the name being touted around is that of Jonathan Biabiany.
