Cristian Chivu has apologised “to everyone, including my children” for punching Bari's Marco Rossi.
The Inter defender was caught on camera lashing out at Rossi during this evening's 3-0 victory at the San Nicola.
“It is difficult to explain,” Chivu told Sky Sport Italia.
“I am here because I want to apologise to Rossi, with all the dignity that I have left.
“I apologise to everyone, above all my two children who one day will watch this clip.”
The referee did not spot the off the ball incident, so he was not punished during the game.
However, Chivu will likely be handed a lengthy ban using video evidence.
