Roberto Donadoni sees Juventus as any other opponent for Cagliari this evening. “We just want to continue picking up points.”
The Sardinians are yet to play out a single stalemate since Donadoni took over, either winning or losing, and tonight welcome a Juve side fresh from three consecutive defeats in all competition.
“We just want to continue picking up points. Up until we reach that mark of 40, the one that guarantees safety, it is all we must focus on,” said the Coach.
“We are facing a Juventus side with real quality and technique in its ranks. They had wonderful moments at the start of the season, now the same people are talking about a disaster. It takes a bit of balance when judging a team.”
Cagliari were struggling too, but have found their form with a 1-0 win away to Sampdoria midweek.
“The game at Marassi gave me more options and ideas. We have everything it takes to do well, but I don't want to take anything for granted.”
It will be a very special game for Alessandro Matri, who returns to the Stadio Dall'Ara just a week after leaving the club.
“How do we stop Matri? With the team unit, which remains our primary strength,” concluded Donadoni.
Goalkeeper Michael Agazzi can start, as he has been given the all-clear by medical staff after suffering a head injury against Sampdoria.
Cagliari squad: Agazzi, Pelizzoli; Agostini, Ariaudo, Astori, Canini, Magliocchetti, Perico, Pisano; Biondini, Conti, Cossu, Lazzari, Missiroli, Nainggolan; Acquafresca, Nenè, Ragatzu
