Gianluigi Buffon admits he's not yet his old self, wants to “win another Scudetto with Juventus” and beat Inter to avenge Calciopoli.
The goalkeeper made his Italy comeback this week for the first time since June, impressing in the 1-1 draw with Germany.
“I am not yet back to my old self, as there were some imperfections in the first games,” he told the Corriere dello Sport.
“I suffered a great deal when I was on the sidelines, but thanks to the help of my family and friends, I did not lose confidence. The fans were wonderful and showed a truly extraordinary affection for me.”
On Sunday night there is the Derby d'Italia against old rivals Inter, an animosity that has only intensified since 2006.
“Calciopoli shocked Italian football and will be talked about for decades. The game with Inter has always had a special taste to it, even more so now after Calciopoli.
“Our objective this season is the Champions League. I still see Milan as the favourites for the Scudetto, even if Inter can beat anyone, but on Sunday we want to beat the Nerazzurri to send a sign and give great joy to our fans.
“I would like to win another Scudetto with this jersey,” continued Buffon. “I also still intend to play another World Cup and European Championship with Italy. The moment I am no longer called up for the Azzurri, I'll hang up my boots.
“I still don't know what I'll do after I stop playing. Maybe I'll be a Coach, but not necessarily in Italy. I'd like to lead a national team like China or the USA.”
