Gigi Del Neri feels “this victory over Inter could be decisive” for the entire Juventus campaign.
“We had also played well against Palermo, then won against Cagliari, so we have been building to this performance,” said the Coach of their 1-0 Derby d'Italia win.
“We proved that we are strong both psychologically and morally. A victory like this could be decisive in opening a new chapter for our season.
“The introduction of Alessandro Matri, Luca Toni and Andrea Barzagli in January gave new strength to the squad.
“The team is now more focused and precise. We may suffer, but we get what we deserve. Football only works if you score goals, so it becomes rather difficult when all your strikers are injured.
“Along with Matri, we have rediscovered the courage and hunger to push for the victory at all times. We have beaten a very strong side and I'm proud to have given Juventus fans this joy.”
Del Neri reserved special praise for his defenders, as Frederik Sorensen provided the crucial assist and silenced Samuel Eto'o.
“A kid who marks Eto'o that way has to be applauded. Barzagli has also impressed me, as with Giorgio Chiellini in the left-back role. Now we've got to improve on the flanks.”
There were problems in the final stages, as Leonardo Bonucci and teammates from the bench were spotted shouting at substitute Vincenzo Iaquinta to put more effort in.
“He was coming back from two months on the treatment table, so it was only to be expected he wouldn't be too sharp.”
