Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has sacked Gian Piero Gasperini after four years at the helm and brought in Davide Ballardini as his replacement.
It was no secret that Preziosi had grown tired of watching his team underachieve, especially after spending over £30m in the summer.
Genoa have lost three of their last four games in Serie A and slipped down to 14th last night following a 1-0 defeat away to Palermo.
This morning's La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed Davide Ballardini was the favourite for the post and it appears they were correct.
Ballardini was last in charge of Lazio before Claudio Lotito dismissed him in February with the club perilously close to the relegation zone.
