Malesani targets Palermo upset

Alberto Malesani warns his Bologna that it is “crucial we beat Palermo in our fight for survival.”

The Rossoblu are seven points clear of the relegation zone despite a three-point penalty and a game in hand, but are still far from secure.

“This game will be decisive and it's crucial we beat Palermo in our fight for survival,” he said of today's 17.00 UK time kick-off.

“We've got to start getting maximum points on home turf, because it's really not easy to win on our travels.

“Palermo are a very attacking side, so we have to keep the tempo up to stop our opponents taking control of the game. Physical condition and concentration will be key.

“Obviously their man to watch is Javier Pastore, who is a great talent destined for a brilliant career,” continued the Coach.

“Considering we lost 4-1 the last time these teams met, we can also rely on our desire to make up for that. It was embarrassing in Palermo, but now it's our turn to impress our home fans.”

Bologna are also eager to atone for last week's 3-1 loss at Sampdoria, where they conceded all their goals in the opening quarter of an hour.

“To be precise, the goals came in a period of seven minutes and 30 seconds. It was a game I really believed in, but in Serie A you can have a black-out moment.

“Sampdoria did well to take full advantage of that moment. We have to improve our consistency, as even a slight moment of relaxation can be fatal.”
