Roma's new investors have reportedly asked England general manager Franco Baldini to return as director of sport.
The club is currently in the middle of negotiations for a takeover from American Thomas DiBenedetto.
Coach Claudio Ranieri said yesterday that he had already spoken to the probable patrons and they intimated his contract would be renewed.
The Gazzetta dello Sport suggests contact has also been made with current England general manager Baldini.
It would be a return to Roma for Baldini, who was director of football from 1999 to 2005, following Fabio Capello to Real Madrid and then the England job.
It is reported that Baldini is unsure whether to accept this Giallorossi position unless he can be given more say in setting transfer strategy.
