Sampdoria Coach Mimmo Di Carlo was bitterly disappointed with the referee in the Inter defeat and explained why they are having so many problems scoring goals.
“I didn't like the decisions of the referee with regards to some free kicks awarded against us, such as the one that led to Wesley Sneijder's goal,” snapped the tactician after a 2-0 home loss.
“In other occasions, such as when Massimo Maccarone was fouled, the officials did not act in the same manner.
“The referee also blew the whistle quickly while we were still preparing our defensive wall on that Sneijder free kick, so that was a situation in favour of Inter.
“I think Samp have returned to showing the right attitude and playing to our qualities. We may go home with zero points, but with a performance that gives us confidence for the future.”
The fact remains the Blucerchiati have failed to score in 10 of their last 12 matches for a grand total of five goals.
“Everything changed from the end of January, when we brought in players like Maccarone, Federico Macheda and Jonathan Biabiany,” continued Di Carlo.
“These strikers still need to work with the rest of the team and learn the right movements. We no longer have a centre-forward like Giampaolo Pazzini, so the squad has to adapt.”
