Real Madrid have denied reports that someone tried to stab former Inter Coach Jose Mourinho, injuring his bodyguard instead.
It was widely reported on Spanish radio station Cadena Ser that a supporter left a bodyguard with a 4cm stab wound when trying to get to The Special One as he signed autographs at the airport in La Coruna.
“Absolutely nothing happened,” insisted a Real Madrid spokesman.
“The atmosphere in La Coruna was very relaxed. Mourinho got close to the supporters to sign autographs, then returned to the team bus.
“In the hotel one of the security staff felt something on his back and realised he had a scratch. He could've done it with a pen, a fence or even a fingernail.
“If something serious had happened, then we would immediately have gone to the police. It's hardly as if someone tries to stab the Real Madrid manager and we do nothing about it, which is what the media are suggesting.”
