Inter are on fine form, but Davide Ballardini believes Genoa can cause an upset with “pace and depth” at San Siro.
“Considering our characteristics, we have to use up a lot of energy to get results,” explained the Coach ahead of tomorrow's match.
“Genoa have quality players and are accustomed to playing without too many defensive considerations. We must be tight, put pressure on to win back possession in midfield and push forward with pace and depth.
“It is tough to spot weak points in Inter's squad, but we promise to play as a team unit. Perhaps Inter are not the favourites for the Scudetto with that five-point gap from Milan, but they are ready to pounce in case of slip-ups.”
The Grifone have to revamp their squad for this game, as Domenico Criscito, Miguel Veloso and Antonio Floro Flores are all suspended.
Mattia Destro is injured and Omar Milanetto not fit enough to start, so the midfield is expected to have Rafinha and Marco Rossi flanking Abdoullay Konko and Juraj Kucka.
Genoa have had a shaky campaign, but seem to have found some form in recent weeks, especially when fighting back from 3-0 down to beat Roma 4-3.
“I have the privilege of training an historic club in an atmosphere that is giving me memorable emotions,” added Ballardini.
“My heart is beating fast and the link between the fans and the team is very moving. We'll give our all to provide the Genoa supporters with more great moments.”
