Gigi Cagni, Gianni De Biasi, Giuseppe Papadopulo, Franco Colomba and Alberto Cavasin are among those being linked with the Sampdoria bench.
Following today's 3-2 home defeat to Cesena, director of sport Doriano Tosi confirmed that Coach Domenico Di Carlo is on borrowed time.
“We're taking 24 hours to think things over,” explained Tosi as they slid towards the relegation zone.
The media have a series of alternatives to take charge, including ex-Lecce boss Cavasin, Reggina old boy Colomba and former Lazio tactician Papadopulo.
The favourites right now appear to be Cagni and De Biasi.
It would be a return to Marassi for Cagni, who already led Sampdoria from 2000 to 2002.
“At the moment I haven't been contacted by anyone,” Cagni told Calciomercato.it this evening.
Another media source, TuttoMercatoWeb, claims De Biasi is the prime candidate to replace Di Carlo.
He already worked with director of sport Tosi when they were together at Modena.
