Alexander Doni admits “we are our own worst enemies” after Roma self-destructed again in Donetsk.
The Giallorossi fell to a 3-0 defeat against Shakhtar last night, crashing out of the Champions League.
“The positive aspect is that we tried right to the end in order to put qualification back in the balance,” said the goalkeeper.
“The negative aspect is that Roma are often our own worst enemies. For example, all the goals we conceded were easily avoidable.”
The players also lost their heads, as Philippe Mexes was sent off before half-time and Daniele De Rossi is likely to receive a lengthy ban after he was caught on camera elbowing Darijo Srna.
