German legend Lothar Matthaus is adamant that Inter can still get the better of Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Bayern beat Inter 1-0 at San Siro in the first leg of their last 16 clash to take a grip of the tie.
However, Matthaus, formerly of both clubs, has told Premium Calcio that Leonardo's boys have the ability to turn things around.
"Anything is possible in football," he noted. "That includes Inter going to Germany and winning. Leonardo's side can qualify for the next round.
"Bayern are the favourites and they've given up on all the other competitions because they want to win this one, but Inter have quality."
Matthaus has a special bond with the Stadio Meazza giants after winning a Scudetto with the Nerazzurri in 1989.
"I have Inter in my heart," added the 1990 World Cup winning captain. "I was at the first leg and I was saddened by Bayern's win – even if they too have a place in my heart.
"I only played in Italy for four years, but I had a beautiful experience that has stayed with me. I played for longer in Germany, but I made history in Italy with Giovanni Trapattoni."
Trap's 1988-89 Inter side broke numerous records on their way to Scudetto glory.
