Milan derby for Ganso

Santos starlet Ganso made his return from injury on Saturday night, sparking a derby between Milan and Inter for his signature.

The 21-year-old Brazil international fantasista is widely regarded as one of the brightest talents to emerge in South America.

He has been out of action with a serious knee injury for seven months and scouts were eager to monitor his progress against Botafogo at the weekend.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Milan's former wing-back Serginho was in the stands compiling a detailed report on Ganso and he didn't disappoint.

He laid on an assist and scored a goal in just 45 minutes, which was enough to seal a win for his side.

Santos President Luis Alvaro De Oliveira says the chances of Ganso leaving Santos are zero, even though the player is negotiating to bring down the buy out clause in his contract to €30m.

Ganso is owned by three parties. Santos have a 45 per cent stake in his contract, the player himself owns 10 per cent and an investment group called DIS hold the other 45 per cent.

Milan have reportedly already made inquiries, but face competition from Inter.

Leonardo is known to be an admirer of Ganso and recently expressed his interest in signing the player.
