Thiago Motta: 'Inter represent Italy'

Thiago Motta points out Inter's victory will make more than just their own fans happy. “It's important for the whole country.”

The Champions League holders were heading for an early exit before fighting back to win 3-2 away to Bayern Munich.

“I have to say that all of Italy's football fans should be happy tonight,” said the midfielder.

“Having an Italian team in the Champions League quarter-finals is important for the whole country.”

Inter are the only remaining Serie A representatives in Europe and squeezed past Bayern on away goals.

“We knew it was going to be a difficult game, but we believed and we did it. We have to believe in ourselves and our football, as we have within us great strength and desire.”
