Inter President Massimo Moratti reveals he thought about hiring Carlo Ancelotti and doubts Mario Balotelli will change. “It's his personality.”
SuperMario was sent off for a very high tackle during Manchester City's Europa League game with Dinamo Kiev and is set to be dropped by Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli for breaking the Azzurri code of ethics.
“It's just his personality,” noted Moratti, who sold Balo in the summer following a series of behavioural issues.
“In life you can change everything, but it's very difficult to change your personality. Having said that, this personality also has positive aspects, such as the constant motivation to battle and prove himself.
“He always has an ‘enemy' somewhere or other and goes looking for these things, so we'll always find him in situations right on the limit.”
Balotelli has been heavily linked with a return to Serie A for Milan, the club he admits to supporting.
“Although everyone sees him as a hard man, I think he's a lad who really wants to feel close to his family. Therefore I believe he'll return to Italy.”
The Nerazzurri raised eyebrows when they brought in former Milan Coach Leonardo, but considered another figure associated with their rivals.
“When you have to change management, the thoughts drift to every good Coach. Therefore, certainly, I reserved a thought for Ancelotti, because he is a very professional, calm person who knows football,” said Moratti.
“Then there are situations and opportunities in life that bring you to different decisions, but I always respected Ancelotti. He is admired by everyone because he deserves it.”
