Francesco Totti celebrated his 201st Serie A goal, all of them with the Roma jersey. “A month ago some said I was finished,” he grinned.
The captain netted twice in today's 2-2 draw at Fiorentina, taking him above the second century.
“Fiorentina took the lead twice and I think our reaction was significant,” he wrote on his personal website.
“I am happy with my second consecutive brace, especially as I had never scored in Florence before.
“Having broken through the 200 goal mark in Serie A means a great deal, as it enriches the wonderful career that I so strongly wanted to tie to a single club. I'm proud to have made this lifestyle choice.
“Up until a month ago, some said I was finished, but I've always been aware of my capabilities.
“Scoring goals is crucial for a striker and I certainly feel more at easy playing closer to the goal. Now we must prepare for our next match against Juventus. Our ambition is still to finish in the top four and so every remaining game is to be considered decisive.”
