Albinoleffe midfielder Davide Bombardini has been slapped with an eight-match suspension in Serie B.
The former Atalanta and Roma man was handed the mega-ban by the disciplinary commission on Monday evening.
Bombardini was dismissed in the 89th minute of Saturday's ill-tempered 2-1 defeat at little Portogruaro.
The 36-year-old was punished for a variety of actions during his now infamous performance at the weekend.
The Italian was today found guilty of diving during the game, of putting his hands on and pushing the referee, as well as using foul and abusive language towards the official.
