Palermo ace Fabrizio Miccoli accepts that his international career for Italy is probably now over.
The former Juventus player was pushing for a place at the World Cup in 2010 before serious injury ruled him out – even if Marcello Lippi was unlikely to recall him anyway.
Now Italy are now bossed by Cesare Prandelli, but Miccoli has still not returned to the international stage.
"Another chance for Italy? After my knee operation I just need to be happy with having scored seven goals while playing so-so," he told Radio Radio on Thursday.
"I've closed the book on the Italian national side and I'm not even thinking about it anymore," the 31-year-old added.
Miccoli has only won 10 caps in his career, with his last appearance coming in November 2004 when he scored his second Azzurri goal in the 1-0 win over Finland.
