'Napoli to fight for the top'

Morgan De Sanctis insists Napoli will continue their fight to remain in the upper echelons of Serie A this season.

The Partenopei currently lie third in Serie A, just two points behind League leaders Milan.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's clash against second-placed Lazio, De Sanctis said: "Now the League table is smiling at us. We must ensure it still is at the end of the season.

"For now it has been a strange season. There is a lot of uncertainty and we must be good at being a protagonist.

"I don't want to turn off the city's enthusiasm, but it's true what De Laurentiis says.

"Realistically we can be close to the big clubs. Roma are stronger than Juve and have a squad that's equal to Inter and Milan.

"Right now we are going beyond our capabilities. This doesn't mean that we will not fight to stay high in the table.

"There are all the conditions to do well. We have already shown our worth last year. We never gave up from a character point of view. And then there are strong players in all departments.

"We will score a lot more goals than last year."
