Adriano confirms he is following Ronaldo's advice by joining Corinthians. “I received a sign I had to leave Roma.”
The striker terminated his contract by mutual consent after repeatedly delaying his return from vacation and missing medical appointments.
It's reported he has agreed a free transfer to Corinthians and this evening confirmed there was truth in these claims.
“I accepted this offer to score many goals and not to create problems for anyone,” he told newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo.
“It'll still take me another six weeks to fully recover from my shoulder injury. Around three or four clubs had been after me, but Ronaldo told me of the Corinthians fans and how passionate they were, so I decided I had to be part of this family too.”
Adriano also commented on what finally convinced him to abandon the Roma adventure just seven months after his arrival.
“I left Roma without provoking any trouble, let it be clear. Quite simply I realised there was no reason for me to stay.
“I had picked up three serious injuries and so it was impossible to play consistently. I realised it was a sign: the time had come for me to return to Brazil.”
