Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia is optimistic that he will be fit in time to face Milan in this week's Derby della Madonnina.
The 23-year-old was sent home from Italy's training camp in Coverciano last week after complaining of pain in his right knee.
Ranocchia underwent a series of tests this morning at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome and was consulted by Professor Pierpaolo Mariani.
Mariani has worked with the likes of Francesco Totti and Alessandro Nesta, and is an expert when it comes to knee injuries.
Ranocchia will have one more check up before the derby on April 2, but it's thought that he will be available for selection.
He is due at Inter's training ground this afternoon to continue his rehabilitation.
