Ciro Ferrara was moved by his Azzurrini's spirit as they fought back from 2-0 down in Germany. “It's a performance that boosts morale.”
Italy were losing in their international friendly before two goals in eight minutes from Manolo Gabbiadini and Fabio Borini earned a 2-2 draw.
“I must thank all the lads for their efforts today, especially those who came off the bench and proved themselves ready,” said the Coach.
“Once again, this side answered important questions against a team that made us suffer. We can certainly build on these foundations.
“We knew it was going to be tough, but could've even won if we had taken the chances we created.
“Now we go home with a performance that boosts morale, as we showed great character even when 2-0 down.
“It is true that we made mistakes in defence and conceded two avoidable goals, but Germany are a very good team and we can continue to work on what we learned here.”
The Azzurrini beat Sweden 3-1 in another international friendly last week.
