Juventus have started talks with Liverpool regarding the permanent transfer of Alberto Aquilani, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Aquilani is currently on loan with an option to buy for €16.5m at the end of the season.
Juventus are balking at the asking price and hope to negotiate a discount with Liverpool.
The Turin giants are in a strong bargaining position because the player wants to stay at the club.
La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Juventus are prepared to do a deal with Liverpool for €12m.
They will then discuss Aquilani's wages.
The 26-year-old currently earns €3.5m a year and Juventus would like Aquilani to take a pay cut.
