Reports in Italy indicate that should Leonardo leave Inter in the summer Massimo Moratti will seek to appoint either Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola.
Humiliating defeats in the Derby della Madonnina and the Champions League have seriously undermined Leonardo's position on Inter's bench.
Moratti is said to be uncertain as to whether Leonardo can recover from the events of the last week and although firing the Brazilian immediately is out of the question, it appears he doesn't have a future at Inter beyond the summer.
Il Corriere dello Sport understands Leonardo was prepared to resign after Tuesday's 5-2 defeat to Schalke, but Moratti refused and asked that the team react.
Moratti is known to be reluctant to dismiss Leonardo right away and promote Beppe Baresi as caretaker manager.
Unsurprisingly, the supporters have starting invoking Jose Mourinho's name even if the prospect of his return to the club seems distinctly unlikely.
The name of Barcelona Coach Pep Guardiola has also been mentioned.
Despite the interview he gave last week in which he said his time at Barcelona is coming to an end, Guardiola is not expected to leave in the summer and immediately take another job.
