Sampdoria are in shock after a group of angry ultras boarded the team bus and made death threats. “No sporting result can justify this.”
At around 2am last night, the squad was making its return to Genoa after the 3-0 defeat to Milan.
A group of ultras covering their faces with hoods and motorbike helmets stopped the bus in the street and climbed aboard.
They made death threats against players and directors, then on their way out cracked the windscreen with sticks.
There were seven players on board at the time, plus directors and medical staff.
“With regards to the shameful incident last night as the team arrived in Genoa, UC Sampdoria condemn what happened,” read a statement on the club website.
“No sporting result, even if very negative, can justify the actions we saw on the way back from Milan.
“The Blucerchiati fans have always stood out for their love for the club colours and respect. This is a difficult and delicate moment, but the only way to emerge from it is to remain united.”
