Fiorentina general manager Sandro Mencucci has warned top stars of changes at the club. “We'll take a large chunk off the wage bill.”
The Viola look set to miss out on Europe for the second season in a row and this is beginning to hurt their finances.
“It's true, we'll take a large chunk off the wage bill, but I don't know how much yet,” Mencucci told Lady Radio.
“That does not mean we will weaken the side. In fact, we hope to strengthen it. On Friday we'll have a meeting to approve the balance sheet.”
For the past year, Fiorentina have been without a President, as Andrea Della Valle resigned during fan protests.
The Della Valle brothers still run the club, but do not have a day-to-day connection that a President requires.
“I hope Andrea Della Valle returns to the role, but I don't know if more work with the family business will allow him to do that.
“Giancarlo Antognoni? He is a figure we all respect very much, but a President is not just for image.”
