Montella 'doesn't trust Bari'

Vincenzo Montella concedes Lazio are the favourites for a Champions League spot, but warns Roma that already-relegated Bari are no pushovers.

“We've got to win and put pressure on those teams in front of us,” said the Coach who will have to wear a shoulder brace for a few weeks after an accidental fall at the Trigoria training ground.

“We have a great opportunity to stay in the race and creep up on the leading pack. Lazio are naturally the favourites, as they are currently in fourth place.

“As for us, we cannot try to make a timetable of what results are needed to climb the standings.

“It's going to be a delicate encounter with Bari. We must remain concentrated, as in Serie A you can lose to anyone. I don't trust Bari to be unmotivated.”

The Galletti are now mathematically relegated, but have known that for some time.

Meanwhile, Francesco Totti is the only mainstay in a constantly-changing front line for the Giallorossi.

“At this moment Francesco is doing extraordinary things and not just in his finishing. It would be difficult to leave him out,” conceded Montella.

Philippe Mexes is out for the rest of the season, while David Pizarro is not 100 per cent fit.
