Samp cancel training amid protests

Tension remains sky high at Sampdoria after training was cancelled due to protests from ultras.

The Blucerchiati are already relegated and have been involved in several skirmishes with angry supporters over the past few weeks.

Around 50 ultras arrived at the Bogliasco training ground today and hurled insults at Coach Alberto Cavasin, directors and players.

There were even reports that Cavasin was physically attacked, but police dismissed those claims.

The situation was so tense that Sampdoria opted to cancel training sessions for today and tomorrow.

Their final game of the season will be away to Roma on Sunday evening.

The club also held a Board of Directors meeting this afternoon and appointed current Novara director of sport Pasquale Sensibile as technical director, beating competition from Palermo.

Edoardo Garrone, the son of President Riccardo, will take over the day-to-day running of Sampdoria.
