Sinisa Mihajlovic is the latest Fiorentina figure to pour pressure on Riccardo Montolivo. “It's time to say yes or no. We can't wait any more.”
The captain is considering a contract extension until 2016, but looks more likely to leave in the summer with Juventus, Inter and Bayern Munich interested.
“The moment has come for Montolivo to decide and say yes or no,” commented the Coach.
“We need to know in order to plan for next season. We cannot wait another 15-20 days for Riccardo's decision.”
One of Montolivo's problems with a Viola stay is their apparent lack of ambition, failing to qualify for Europe for the second consecutive campaign.
“The club's plans have always been the same. Nobody ever talked about winning the Scudetto, but rather of reaching Europe and being among the top 5-7 teams in Italy.
“I would be happy if Montolivo remained with us, as he is a great player and there is a wonderful rapport between us. However, Fiorentina could not be clearer than this.”
