Alexandre Pato will not undergo surgery for his dislocated shoulder, “but will be out for four to five weeks.”
The Milan striker fell awkwardly during Sunday's 0-0 draw with Udinese and popped his left shoulder out of joint.
It was already put back in place under general anaesthetic on Sunday evening, but more tests were performed today.
“Complications were excluded,” read a statement on the Milan website. “After a consultation with Professor Taverna, a shoulder specialist, it was decided not to intervene surgically.
“Pato will undergo a rehabilitation programme aimed at a full recovery in four to five weeks.
“The player's participation in the Copa America will be re-evaluated between the Milan and Brazil medical staff at the end of June.”
Pato had initially been ruled out of the competition, which begins in Argentina on July 1, but could still be included in the squad if his recovery progresses well.
