Cesena directors confirm negotiations for Fiorentina star Adrian Mutu have resumed, but note “the problem remains his wages.”
The Romanian had already been set for a transfer in January and famously stormed out of a training session when told he would not be released for free.
After weeks of legal action and the sacking of his agent, Mutu made up with the Viola, but it seems as if Cesena are back on the horizon.
“The problem remains his wages,” Cesena technical director Lorenzo Minotti told Corriere Fiorentino newspaper.
“We would like him to be the focal point of our team and Adrian remains our objective, although it is difficult precisely because of his salary.
“A good rapport of respect and friendship was created between Mutu and President Igor Campedelli in January.
“We had won him over with our plans and will now try to sign him again. Our idea is to create a young side with Mutu the mature influence to help youngsters grow.
“Seeing as Mutu wants to be a Coach when he hangs up his boots, he could do that one day at Cesena.”
The former Juventus and Chelsea striker is 32.
