Pioli named Palermo Coach

Former Chievo boss Stefano Pioli has been confirmed as the new Coach of Sicilian giants Palermo.

The Rosanero split from Delio Rossi yesterday and have wasted no time in hiring his replacement.

Pioli, who was spoken to about the Roma job by Giallorossi sporting director Walter Sabatini, has signed a two-year contract with the option of a third season.

The 46-year-old has bossed Salernitana, Modena, Parma, Grosseto, Piacenza, Sassuolo and Chievo during his career.

He's never spent more than two seasons at one club and was axed during his spells at Modena and Parma.
