Mario Balotelli is in trouble again after his agent had to declare: “He has never had any rapport with organised crime.”
The Manchester City striker left the Italy squad with a knee injury this week, but has found himself in the newspapers once more.
It is reported that in June 2010 Balotelli took a tour of the Scampia area of Naples, known for the drug trade, and his guides were members of local clans.
“Balotelli has never had any rapport with organised crime,” agent Mino Raiola insisted.
“I will not confirm or deny he made this trip, because I don't know what actually happened.
“If, and I repeat if, Mario went to Scampia then it was because he was curious about these tragically famous areas.
“He certainly did not know that the people accompanying him were tied to the clans. There are many people around the world of football and it's impossible to know who everyone you talk to really is.”
It wouldn't be the first time the Manchester City hitman has let curiosity get the better of him, as he was also turned away when trying to visit a prison with his brother.
Meanwhile, Balotelli has been told that he needs to work on strengthening the muscles in his right leg to protect the knee that underwent surgery.
