Sampdoria have appointed Reggina boss Gianluca Atzori on a two-year deal, the club have confirmed.
Atzori was the hot favourite to net the job and he'll be presented to the media on Thursday 16 June at a hotel in Genoa.
The Marassi outfit have been linked with a variety of coaching names, but the former defender has won the race.
Atzori, born in 1971, is a relatively inexperienced Coach given that he only began his career with Ravenna in 2008.
He was handed the Catania hotseat a season later but that ended in dismissal. He returned to the game last summer with Serie B side Reggina.
Doria have asked the tactician to help them create a new project after Domenico Di Carlo and Alberto Cavasin failed to keep them in Serie A.
Samp will also have a new sporting director at the club after appointing Novara's Pasquale Sensibile.
