Delio Rossi has been linked with both Inter and Fiorentina benches over the past 24 hours, but “I have not had contact with either club.”
The Coach is a free agent after the end of his contract with Palermo and he is among the hottest properties on this particular corner of the summer transfer market.
“I read about an interest from Fiorentina in the newspapers, but there is nothing in it,” he told Lady Radio.
“The same thing happened yesterday with Inter. I was attached to both Inter and Fiorentina, but I have not had contact with either club. Mind you, it is pleasing to be linked with sides like this.”
Curiously, the Viola job would only open up if Sinisa Mihajlovic were to take over at Inter.
“I cannot comment on mere rumours,” continued Rossi. “Fiorentina are an important club and not one known for being particularly relaxed, but I like a challenge.
“If they were to call me and we shared plans... but there are too many ‘buts' in this, so it's not even right to talk about it when Mihajlovic is on the bench.”
Another reason for Rossi to be drawn to Florence is a reunion with his former Lecce director of sport Pantaleo Corvino.
“I was fortunate enough to work with him for two and a half years at Lecce, as Corvino is one of Italy's best directors. It's nice to know the Fiorentina fans appreciate him.”
