According to the Corriere dello Sport, Sinisa Mihajlovic will be presented as the new Inter Coach on Monday.
The current Fiorentina boss was named as one of the potential candidates for the job after Leonardo quit to become director general of Paris Saint-Germain.
It is a double return to San Siro for Mihajlovic, who both played for the club and was on the bench as assistant manager to Roberto Mancini.
The Corriere dello Sport website insists the Nerazzurri will announce Mihajlovic over the weekend, or Monday at the latest.
The delay is so that he can free himself from his contract at Fiorentina, which runs until June 2012 with an option for a further campaign.
Inter would propose a two-year contract for the former defender.
