Juve Stabia and Verona promoted

Verona return to Serie B, while Juve Stabia are back in the second division after a 60-year gap.

The Lega Pro promotion play-offs were held this evening and complete the Serie B line-up for 2011-12.

Juve Stabia are the big surprise, winning 2-0 away to Atletico Roma, which is also the aggregate score considering the 0-0 first leg result.

This club from Castellammare di Stabia near Naples had not been in Serie B since 1951-52, so return after 60 years.

In the other play-off, Verona were defeated 1-0 by Salernitana, but earned promotion thanks to their 2-0 first leg victory.

Therefore Juve Stabia and Verona join automatically promoted Nocerina and Gubbio in Serie B next season.
