Brazilian defender Lucio is demanding a two-year extension to his current contract at Internazionale.
"I want to stay at Inter, but only if they renew my deal until June 2014," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I trust Inter and I am sure that they will construct a side that is again capable of winning everything on offer."
Lucio's agent has been in negotiations with the San Siro giants since the season came to an end due to the fact that his present deal runs out in 2012.
But while both parties want to continue the relationship, there is a difference of opinion regarding both the length of the contract and the salary.
Lucio is asking for a deal until 2014, but the San Siro giants are proposing an agreement until 2013 instead.
The Brazilian, now 33-years-old, joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2009 from German outfit Bayern Munich.
It is understood that the South American currently earns €3m a campaign in Italy.
