Fiorentina patron Diego Della Valle has praised the side for their display in the 1-0 defeat at Milan on Saturday.
The Viola are on the wrong side of the table after a sluggish start to the season which has seen them collect just 15 points from 13 games.
However, talking to the Corriere dello Sport, Della Valle was satisfied with the their latest efforts in the championship.
"We saw the best Fiorentina of the season at Milan," he noted. "We matched Milan and they only won because they have Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
"They scored, while we were not able to, despite the opportunities that we had."
Della Valle also backed boss Sinisa Mihajlovic, the under pressure tactician, who replaced Cesare Prandelli in the summer after he was appointed as Italy Coach.
"The value and the ability of our Coach has never been in doubt," DDV added. "His position has never been a point for discussion.
"What can this Fiorentina achieve? It is still too early to say. We'll have to wait until February to understand our worth.
"Our treatment room is full right now which means no proper evaluation can be made. The hope is that things will improve in the New Year."
The Viola are currently missing Stevan Jovetic, Sebastien Frey and Riccardo Montolivo, amongst others, through injury.
