Maurizio Zamparini says Amauri is one of the best attackers in the Italian game – but also too pricey for his Palermo.
The attacker has just 12 months left on his Juventus contract and he's expected to be sold after spending the last six months on loan at Parma.
A return to the Stadio Barbera has been suggested, but President Zamparini has ruled out that possibility.
"Amauri is one of the strongest strikers in Italy right now, but he can't return here," the chief noted on Monday.
"His salary is just too high for us. If he would accept €1m a season then I'd bring him back straight away, but he earns more than €4m right now.
"Palermo can't afford players at those prices."
The 31-year-old spent two seasons at Palermo before his 2008 switch to the Old Lady of Italian football.
