Lavezzi: 'Napoli will stay at the top'

Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi has every confidence that his side will stay up there in the upper echelons of the table until the end of the season.

The Partenopei lie third in Serie A, just five points behind League leaders Milan after 13 games of the current campaign.

"I would like to finish the season in the same position as we are in now," Lavezzi said. "But it's too soon to make predictions."

Asked about the Scudetto, he said: "We are staying humble and will continue to play this way.

"We have done great and important things. We mustn't forget that we are still playing in two competitions.

"We have important alternatives even if the squad is not so numerous."

Reflecting on the opening of the January transfer window, Lavezzi said: "We always need new players, but it's up to the club to decide.

"I am thinking about playing Udinese on Sunday. It will be a difficult game, but we don't want to stop now."
