Reto Ziegler described the “dream” of starting his Juventus career. “Other clubs wanted me, but you can't turn down Juve.”
The former Sampdoria full-back held his first Press conference for the Turin giants as they began pre-season training.
“It is a dream to be here and to wear the Juve shirt. I know the responsibilities that await me, but just the fact I am part of such a great club gives me strength,” he said.
“You can't turn down Juve. Other clubs wanted me, including Milan and Lazio in January, but they couldn't reach an agreement. I spoke to Marotta and Paratici, who were the directors who took me from Tottenham to Sampdoria, so there were no doubts.
“Antonio Conte celebrated so many victories with this shirt and from the first training session he has given us the right mentality. The Coach is helping us understand what it means to play for Juve.
“This is a very strong side full of champions and our fate is in our hands. We are all hungry for success.”
Ziegler is one of several newcomers in Turin, including former Lazio winger Stephan Lichtsteiner.
“I already played alongside him in 2003 at Grasshoppers, when we won the Swiss League together. Swiss football is rising and many of us are in top European clubs.
“It is a great honour for me to represent my country by playing for an important club like Juventus.”
