Javier Zanetti is confident that Inter will be able to challenge for honours in the new campaign under the guidance of Gian Piero Gasperini.
The latter has replaced Leonardo on the Nerazzurri bench after the Brazilian opted to speak to Paris SG about a sporting director role in France.
"I know Leonardo very well and I know about his ideas," the Beneamata captain told Sky Sport Italia.
"He was very clear with us and with the President when this opportunity arose for him and he made a personal choice.
"Now we are looking forward to a new challenge with Gasperini and hopefully we'll be able to raise a few more important trophies."
Zanetti is currently on Copa America duty, but he admits that he's been thinking of Inter this summer.
"Inter is always in my thoughts because the club is part of my life and it's hard not to think about it," he added.
"I know we have a new Coach and we have signed some important players," the versatile midfielder continued.
"Next season will certainly be a challenge and our targets will be the same as usual – we'll try to win everything we're involved in."
