Joining Napoli was Mario Santana's primary objective this summer after his contract at Fiorentina expired.
The winger has this week signed for the Stadio San Paolo outfit, but only after Cesena and Juventus made late enquiries.
"There has been talk about this move for the last couple of months," his agent Marco Piccioli told Radio CRC on Wednesday.
"The player was delighted when I told him that the deal with Napoli was coming to a successful conclusion.
"Mario has realised a dream by joining the Azzurri and it is always particularly intriguing for Argentine players to wear the Napoli shirt.
"It's hard to turn down such a club when they make a call."
The 29-year-old South American, formerly of Venezia, Chievo and Palermo, has signed a three-year deal in Naples.
