Luis Enrique is taking no prisoners at Roma. “Whoever isn't in sync with the project will stay out. I expect a lot from Francesco Totti.”
The Coach has transformed the training regime and tactical approach of the squad, even going so far as to change their eating arrangements at lunch.
“I am enjoying everything so far this season. We're working well, I'm happy with the players, feel the support of the fans and don't sense any particular pressure,” said the former Barcelona B manager.
“I want to build a team that can leave the problems of the past behind. We'll battle to win every single game.
“My objective is to convince all the players of this project. If I don't manage that, then I'll go home and a replacement will be brought in.
“At the same time, if I get the feeling someone isn't in sync with the project, then they will stay out.”
Enrique specified captain Totti, midfielder Daniele De Rossi and veteran Simone Perrotta as the key figures in his squad.
“I always expect something more from Totti, De Rossi and Perrotta, because they are great players who can set an example for the younger elements.
“The more quality players we have, the better. The objective is to attack and defend as a unit. I won't talk about those we haven't signed yet, but we do know who we need to complete the squad.”
