Mayor: 'Beating Juve is justice'

The Mayor of Florence has lit the touch paper on today's grudge match. “Beating Juventus would be justice for all that was stolen from us.”

It is well known that there is an intense rivalry between Fiorentina and the Bianconeri, but Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic aimed to calm that down ahead of this game.

However, Mayor Matteo Renzi had no intention of being so accommodating and appealed to the worst aspects of the clash.

“This is the only game that truly interests Fiorentina fans,” he declared.

“That fixture against the little side that wears white and black vertical stripes. The meeting with Juve is not a match, but rather a mystical experience.

“I would gladly suffer a knee injury during a marathon in exchange for a victory in Turin.”

Mayor Renzi then pointed to the many controversial incidents that littered the rivalry over the years.

“Winning in Turin would be not just a great achievement, but also an act of sporting and cultural justice for all that was stolen from us during our history.”
